KUALA LUMPUR – New Islamic law-compliant instruments to help Islamic financial firms manage liquidity risk are scheduled to be rolled out later this year, Malaysia’s central bank chief confirmed in February. Bank Negara Malaysia governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz said the short-term multi-currency liquidity instruments to be issued by the new International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), are intended to aid cross-border liquidity management between financial centres and “enhance the financial interlinkages”.
