SYDNEY – The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), the county’s banking and insurance watchdog, is proposing to apply the new global liquidity standards to its larger banks on the seven-year timetable set out by the Basel Committee. APRA’s plans for implementing the first global standards aimed at strengthening banks’ liquidity defences are set out in a discussion paper issued in mid-November.
